Open Ears Project - Trailer Transcript
[Music - Hallelujah Junction by John Adams]
CLEMENCY BURTON HILL: From WNYC Studios and WQXR, this is the Open Ears Project: a new daily podcast in which people tell us a story about the piece of classical music that means the most to them.
LEE HILL: It brought to life things that I couldn't really put into words.
JAMIE BARTON: this to me speaks of longing, speaks of love, something very very deep in the soul.
CBH: They’re like these 3 or 4 minute sonic love letters that not only help us hear classical music differently, but maybe even help us hear each other differently.
JOE YOUNG: Like not only did it change how I listen to music. It absolutely changed how I listen to people.
CBH: I’m Clemmie Burton-Hill and I’ve always been fascinated by the ways that music helps us through our lives – the ways it helps us connect.
JACQUI CHENG: It really felt like it walked me through this emotional journey...
CONNIE VIGLIETTI: I don't know, I just find myself there, and it feels like home...
CBH: For 30 days, we're going to share this daily ritual of listening to people listen, and we're going to see what happens when we do.
Are you going to look someone in the eye on your subway ride home? Call your mother? Maybe take a little more time for yourself?
Whatever happens, we can promise that you're going to meet some amazing people and hear some incredible music, and I really hope you'll join us for the ride.
EDDIE IZZARD: If you listen to it, you are floating in the clouds, which doesn't make logical sense, but that's how it feels like...
BRIAN LEHRER: It just wipes the rest of the world away…
ALISON STEWART: And… it just makes me happy.
CBH: The first episode of Open Ears drops on September 10th. Listen for free wherever you get your podcasts and sign up for our daily newsletter at OpenEarsProject.org
