Maria Garcia

Maria Garcia is an award-winning journalist and the Executive Editor of Futuro Studios, where she conceptualizes and oversees new podcast and original programming projects. Previously, Maria served as the Managing Editor at WBUR, where she oversaw the investigative, environmental, education, and arts and culture teams. Maria has also been an arts editor and arts reporter, covering overlooked corners of creativity. Early in her career, she covered politics and policy along the U.S.-Mexico border in El Paso, Texas, for over a decade before earning her master’s in Arts and Culture Reporting from Columbia Journalism School. She loves: her son, their dog Chalino, Selena, big hoops, and crafting stories that uncover something about our deepest selves.
